Resurrection - Back to the Future

I think its often the temptation of Christians to believe in the resurrection as if its something that is going to happen one day. At the end of time we will all witness a great resurrection of the dead. Well that's true.
But the amazing part is that it has already begun. 2,000 years ago on Sunday morning when the stone was rolled away and the tomb was found empty... Resurrection began. Restoration was enacted and has continued since. So we live between the already and the not yet.

What does it mean for us as Christians to say we live a gospel that proclaims a resurrection that has already been set in motion. What does it mean to live in a culture that often says things are getting worse and worse, and proclaim the gospel of Jesus that says things are being made new.

Just as in Back to the Future... Marty McFly went back in time to 1955 from 1985, and while he was there, he enacted a change. A change between his parents relationship and others. And that changed carried on into the future. When he returned things were better. And had increasingly gotten that way.

Jesus, the God of the universe, the Author of the story stepped into time at a specific moment and enacted a change... and the effects of that change have been in action for thousands of years... In the words of Jesus, "The kingdom of heaven has come near." And so continues to come.

What does it mean to live within the resurrection, to live a gospel that says, all creation is being made new... To live between 1955 and 1985. The change has been enacted.
